Keep Fire Hydrants Clear!

  1. Keep your fire hydrants clear of snow.
  2. Ensure the space from the hydrant to the road or access area is cleared.
  3. Ensure at least 3 feet clearance on all sides of the hydrant.
  4. Make sure hydrant is brushed off well and visible from the road.

If there is a fire at YOUR home or a home near you, having to clear snow from a fire hydrant when we arrive takes precious time that is needed to perform the many other tasks needed to be completed at the scene of a fire!  Help us help you and your neighbors by keeping your fire hydrants clear of snow and debris!  Every second counts!

Please help your neighbors out by clearing their hydrants out, especially if they are not easily capable of doing so on their own.

  4. Have a water source handy, if available, such as a bucket of water or garden hose.

  6. Do not burn if it is windy!
  7. Do not burn at night!
